‘PERFECT CRIME’ OFF THE ‘SWEET SIDE OF LOVE EP’
PERFECT CRIME
INSPIRATION/INFORMATION:
Perfect Crime is a playful observation of the mutual act of stealing one another’s hearts, while noticing your confidence grow from the welcome surprises as you fall in love.
“ It was originally written as an acoustic ballad, actually while in the green room when I was supporting Human Nature of all bands. But the rock n’ roll musical aesthetic I went with helps the song feel more sentimentally balanced. It’s my most meat ‘n potatoes rock ‘n roll tune and it was fun tracking it with Ian. We tracked bass and drums at the same time, then we re-tracked his bass while I was playing guitar, sitting across from one another. His playing is so inspired and it really lifted my performances. When I listen to it now, some 18 months on, to me it feels like a live band because of that process. ”

LYRICS
PERFECT CRIME
In the throws of love
For a heart that's waking up
Connected are the stars above
You don’t want to let that paint dry
Here we are a union in the making
The night sky and the sunrise, competing
It’s the Perfect Crime
I steal your heart, you steal mine
It’s the Perfect Crime
When your luck runs out then so does mine
In the throws of love
When your guard is slowly dropped
And the runway feels long enough
And it’s more than what you thought it was
Never mind the places I will never get to find
Cause I’ve already caught a breeze that’s picking up
With you, you
Oh with you, you
Here we are a union in the making
The night sky and the sunrise, competing
It’s the Perfect Crime
I steal your heart, you steal mine
It’s Perfect Crime
And when your luck runs out then so does mine
Yes when your luck runs out then so does mine
