TAXI (WITH THE LIGHT ON) - FROM THE ‘TAXI’ EP
TAXI (WITH THE LIGHT ON)
INSPIRATION/INFORMATION:
“I wrote ‘Taxi’ with another singer in mind, so the story always felt distant from me. But while writing it, I pictured the final 5 minutes on a night out just before the ugly lights come on - and as people start to pair off. The character in Taxi is longing to be wanted, like all of us. And they’re in conversation with themselves about if tonight’s the night.”

TAXI (With The Light On)
Took only a moment
To notice my beating heart
Now I'm losing focus
Cause right there you are
Good night, star light, we made it to the end
Feels like, the times right, there's something in the air
She's a Taxi with the light on
You got the advantage honey I'm stranded here in my own
And I’m a sentence at the comma, searching for another word
As we start to drive, could you keep that in mind for me girl?
She’s a Taxi with the light on, can I step into your world?
Everyone's had their heart broken
And it tends to leave a mark
But here we are here hoping, foolishly pretending to be ready, for another start
Good night, star light, we made it to the end
And it feels like, the times right, there's something in the air
She’s Taxi with the light on
She’s got the advantage cause honey I'm stranded here on my own
And I'm a sentence at the comma, searching for another word
As we start to drive, could you keep that in mind for me girl
She’s a Taxi with the light on, can I step into your world?
Can I step into your world?
Into your world
Can I step into your world?
Into your world
Can I step into your world?
Into your world
